Workout: Recovery run (treadmill)

I ran a total of 2080.31 injury free miles this year. That was 539.30 more miles than I ran last year.

I finished third overall female runner in a race series that I sort of competed in this year. My goal was to win my age group in the race series. It was clear that I was going to accomplish that goal around July as no one else in my age group was even close to my point total. I stopped racing in the series, but in October the race promoter posted race totals. I noticed that I was in 4th place overall for the female category. I began competing again and secured my third overall place.

I did several large races in Indianapolis. My marathon and half-marathon results were mixed. As I age, the weather is really becoming a performance deal breaker. I feel like Goldilocks eating the three bears porridge. I can no longer tolerate races that are too hot or too cold. They need to be just right. Now if I could only figure out what that just right temperature is I'd find my happy ending!

I listened to a blog with Martha Beck. This was her New Year Resolution.  "My New Year Resolution is first, to do my best in all situations, and second, to stand in the mess that is my best."

I really liked her thoughts. She contemplated that perhaps, instead of being here to get things right,  we're here to learn to love the mess that is every human life.
