Workout: Long run

  • I still love my new Nike coat. It was 23° when I left the house. I was actually warm the entire run. I even considered removing one of the extra undergarments that I had worn. That is a first for me!
  • I was disappointed with my total weekly mileage. I fell short by 9 miles which is fairly significant. Since I added cross-training into my weekly schedule, I can't seem to figure out how to work in a day off from running without sacrificing a large mileage day. It seems that my only option is to run twice on one of those cross-training days since my mileage is so low. Afternoon workouts are extremely difficult to manage. I am one of those people that the moment my foot enters my home, I do not want to leave!

Hey, exact same temperature here this morning. Glad the new jacket worked well for you.

It's funny to hear complaints about missing the mileage goal when you already hit almost 50 miles on the week. But I get it.

The one day off from running is important. So is the cross training. Have you considered doing the cross training on your day off? From what I've read, that's acceptable if it's a completely different muscle set being used. Cycling qualifies.

The only other thing I can think of is to keep all your runs at the same time every morning, and do your cross training at night. That works best if you have a spin bike at home. That way, you can do it while catching up on whatever you like to watch at night.

Thanks Michael. Those are all good ideas. Thanks for the constant encouragement and keeping me on track!
