Observations:

  • Realized after 2 miles, I was running too fast - Although I was happy with that pace. I am typically a slow starter. That pace felt easy, breezey!
  • Began to purposefully slow my pace
  • Around mile 6, I realized that it was a lot of hard work to slow my pace to 10:00. I decided to just run and let my pace drop to a natural flow. It appears that somewhere between 9:30 and 9:35 is my sweet spot.

  • I really felt the heat when I started running at 5:15 AM. Also, my toes and the tops of my feet hurt for the first few miles. I had to mentally focus on other thoughts otherwise I would not have finished my run.
  • I had hoped that by going back to the Brooks brand of shoes this foot problem would go away. It may just take some time. I know that the shoes are wider than my Saucony's.
